Hey everyone! This week has been great! Probably one of the most stressful weeks of my life… but it has been well worth it! The best part was by far the baptisms of Cristina and Jessica! A mom and daughter we have been teaching for quite some time now. I contacted them on the road in august and they have been showing tons of interest and great progression, but have had some medical issues that didn’t allow them to come to church or be baptized… This week we prayed like crazy, every single day, that they would be able to get baptized and it wasn’t looking too great. We hadn’t been able to teach them at all and it was being hard to contact them. One night, in desparation, we decided to just send a text to Cristina and ask her if she would be baptized the following Saturday. When we talked to her later she said yes!!! We went over to her house as soon as possible and planned everything. But when we talked to Jessica, she said she didn’t want to because she was scared there would be fish in the water… We decided to just keep going and plan on baptizing both of them anyways. The day of the baptism arrived and when Cristina was all dressed and we were ready to start the meeting Jessica came up to me and said, “I saw the water… there are no fish in it. Can I still be baptized?” Haha it was a miracle! We called another missionary up right away so he could come do the interview and then had a fantastic baptismal service!

This weekend we also had transfers. Elder Gardner ended his mission which was pretty sad… I miss him already! I am staying here in Porto though with Elder Da Cruz! He is from Cape Verde. It should be fun serving with him! This weekend we will have a special zone conference and then stake conference with Elder Cook. We are super excited! As the Zone Leaders here we are going to have to organize quite a bit of stuff! And we are under a lot of pressure because it is an apostle coming and President Fluckiger wants everything perfect! It should go great though!

Anyways, have a great week! I love you all!

Beijinhos,
Elder Mehl
