Hey ya’ll! How is it going??

Things here in Miratejo are going fantastic! This past week was even better than the last one. Our investigators are doing fantastic and we are getting tons of support from the ward! Orlando and his family is progressing well. He and his son came to church yesterday and loved it. He said we have something different there and he feels better there than in any other church he has been in. He already knows it is true. His wife will be a bit tougher to help gain a testimony because she works every sunday and can’t make it to chuch. Valda is also doing great. Unfortunately she hasn’t been able to get work off on sunday yet, but she is at the church basically every day for one activity or another. She also wants a big map of the Plan of Salvation on her wall in her room so she can study it and memorize it every day. Haha, she is fantastic.
This week I had a rather strange conversation with a middle aged lady from Cabo Verde. We were knocking a couple of doors in this area known as “As Barracas”, which literally means the shacks (they are small houses made of concrete, tin, wood, plastic and just about everything else you could think of, tightly squeezed together in a field), when this lady started yelling at us and laughing. After speaking to someone in a door I decided to go and talk to her. When we got there she started questioning who we were and about what we are doing. After responding she starting getting all crazy and telling me all kinds of things about how she became passionate for me and wanted to do naughty things with me (break the law of chastity). I was rather shocked with all the things she said and and looked to my companion wondering how to even respond. He, being new on the mission, was sitting there with a smile on his face just looking at her because he didn’t understand a thing she had said. Haha it was rather funny. After hearing it all, my first instinct was to run, but then I felt it was a good teaching opportunity so I took advantage of it and taught her about the Plan of Salvation, the purpose of life, and the law of chastity. At the end she was really quiet and deep in though. Something I said definitely hit her because she apologized for what she had said and told us how amazing it is that we are doing what we do.
Today for Pday we went to see “Cristo Rei”, a huge statue of Christ on a hill overlooking the river by Lisbon. It was pretty cool! We went with a couple of other Elders and Sisters in our district and a couple of members. It was really fun, I will send a couple of pictures of it!
I hope all is well with all of you back home! Love you all so much and am so thankful for the love and support you are giving me! Have a great week!
Beijinhos,
Elder Mehl
