Feliz Natal to All

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! Mine was absolutely fantastic! This whole week has been full of the spirit. On Christmas Eve we went around town, delivered cookies and sung carols to some less active members. It was a really special night. We visited one member who has been having a really rough time lately. When we visited his house he was really welcoming and let us in right away. We talked with him for a little and shared our gift of cookies with him. He gave us some Portuguese Christmas treats in return. Before we left we sang a couple of Christmas Hymns for him. The spirit touched him so powerfully. While we were singing he starting crying uncontrollably. He told us that he felt really really good inside and that he really misses the church in his life. We told him how much we love him and how our little branch needs him. I don’t know if he will come back to church now, but it was definitely a very special moment. Christmas was basically the same! We went around singing more hymns and delivering cookies to everyone we could thing of, it was great!
The rest of the week just got better and better. On saturday we marked our investigator Dayna to be baptized on the 11 of January!!! We are all way excited. She really is such a great lady and has changed so much since the first time we met her. It has been a testimony to me that the Gospel really does change hearts and lives. On sunday we got a phonecall from President Fluckiger and received some crazy news. Elder Seeley was getting emergency transfered! He left to Lisboa this morning to serve there. We don’t really know the reasons behind it. I sure am going to miss that kid though. Today I have just been hanging out with Elder Bowden and Elder Martins all day. My new companion will be Elder de Barros. He is from Capo Verde and finished his mission in three weeks. From what I here he is a great missionary. He has been serving as a Zone Leader for quite a while and has done some really good work here in Portugal. I am excited to serve with him, even if it is just for three weeks!
I hope you all have a great New Years. Remember to be safe and smart in all you do! Love you all so much. Talk to you soon!
Beijinhos,
Elder Mehl
